One on One and Small
Group Instruction
Was
available all day Fridays, Saturday afternoons, and various times throughout the week, for children, teens & adults.
Everything from beginner drawing and painting, to a focus on a particular medium or subject matter, was studied.
Portfolio Development for High School Students
Per college admission criteria.
Don evaluated a student's current work, determined
what new works needed to be added and what existing works needed to be finished.
Colleges want to see your
work from life and from your imagination. In other words, your observational skills and your conceptual skills. Works copied
from photographs should not be included in your portfolio.
Subject matter could include: portrait & figure,
still life, interiors (section of a room), exteriors (landscape), and nonrepresentational (pure abstraction).
One on
one instruction: $70 per hour.
Two
students together: $80 ($40 each)
Three
students together: $90 ($30 each)
Workshops
Events for organizations such as the Girl and Boy Scouts, or any group of children, teen or adult students. Pricing was
based on the length of the session, the number of students, the project, and the supplies used.
JSA also offered its own workshops on occasion, such as Saturday Afternoon Figure Drawing and
Airbrush classes. These were featured on the Workshops page.
Birthday Parties
Parties were typically three hour sessions - the art project for the first two hours, and party
time during the last hour. Families chose from a variety of drawing, painting and collage projects. Themes were sometimes a
part of the party and the art project.
JSA provided all of the art supples and families provided the food, paper
products, and anything else they desired for the party.
Cost:
$20-$25 per student, depending on
chosen project & supples. ($200 minimum).
